- Voted Syracuse’s Best Bluegrass Group for 2009 in the Syracuse New Times “Best of” Readers’ Poll
- Their two self produced CDs, Middle of Nowhere and Black Dog, have both won Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYs) for “Best Bluegrass/Folk Recording.”
- John’s solo CD The Closer I Get, recorded in Nashville in 2007, was a nominee for Best Bluegrass CD in the 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards, an international competition of over 40,000 CDs. Two songs from that CD were also nominated for Best Bluegrass Song from over 500,000 entries worldwide.
- John’s CD and his two songs each placed third out of the top 5 in their respective categories.
- John’ song, “Time,” was #1 on the national bluegrass charts for 3 months, as recorded by Lou Reid and Carolina, with backup vocals by Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs.
- John’s songs have also been recorded by Tony Trischka and Skyline, Jim Hurst and Missy Raines, and John Rossbach.
